After beginning his professional life in academia, Kevin Price got his start in the investment management business at Merrill Lynch before co-founding Interlake in 2007. His mission is to help individual investors, retirement plan sponsors, and plan participants build exceptional investment programs and the discipline and confidence needed to see those programs through.
Kevin holds a BA from the University of Puget Sound and advanced degrees (MA and PhD) from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A native of Monterey County, California, Kevin is a member of the National Association of Plan Advisors, a proud dad, a lifelong golf nerd, and a 14-season basketball coach. Kevin earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Designation in 2022. Attainment of the AIF® Designation demonstrates understanding of Fi360's Prudent Practices® and methodology. He also holds the Certified Plan Fiduciary Advisor professional designation. Kevin lives in Carmel, California, with his wife, daughter, and two very good dogs.
Kevin co-founded Interlake in 2007. He launched the firm to provide fiduciary-minded advice to individuals and families, envisioning Interlake as a private-client asset management shop, which was the type of work he’d done at Merrill Lynch in Seattle.
As he grew the firm from the ground up through the Great Financial Crisis, he realized that many of the people he knew had two primary types of assets: equity in their homes and investments in their workplace retirement plans. Some had Individual Retirement Accounts from former employers’ 401(k) plans, but their current workplace plans loomed large in their financial lives.
It didn’t take long for Kevin to conclude that the 401(k) world presented an opportunity to help investors of all ages, income levels, and account balances. As the son of a schoolteacher, Kevin found a sense of purpose in working with plan sponsors and participants. Here was a chance to deliver value, expertise, and empathetic guidance to a large number of people who needed and deserved good professional help.
